8 ways to ensure product quality as a Product Manager
It can be really troubling when you realize, that Product Managers are responsible for the product’s quality, but others have to actually create it. Here are 8 ways PMs can ensure quality:
1) GIve any initiative enough time to “bake”
Rushing anything to production is the antithesis of quality. Of course, there are times when you just want to test a concept and it’s OK to take shortcuts from time to time. However, a proper MVP and beyond will need a few meetings, perhaps a discovery session, and a few different UI takes before you can land on a design and concept that the users will likely love.
2) Write requirements that can serve almost as a testing plan
While you need to write requirements specific to a pixel, the more clear and comprehensive they are, the less likely anything will be wrongly interpreted or poorly tested. Be sure to cover all the main flows, happy paths, and known edge/error cases.
3) Keep an open mind
A great idea might come from anyone at any time. Don’t reject a brilliant new take just because it delays stuff too much. Of course, every situation is unique and that shouldn’t stop you from having your doors always open.
