Complete list of typical job interview questions for Product Managers

While no two Product Management job interviews are the same, it doesn’t mean you can’t come prepared! There are some very typical questions you can prepare for and practice, that are quite easy and standard. Still, if you take time to prepare and practice, you will make a way better impression!

Prepare your answers to have a short intro (1–2 sentences), body (1–3 minutes long story), and a closing remark (i.e. “This was a valuable experience that shaped the rest of my career”)

Prioritize preparing a success and a failure story of your Product Management career. Be able to say how either of them was reached and what did you learn from them.

⁠Other question types that are important to prepare for a job interview are:

  • Basics (Who is a product manager?)
  • Role inspiration (Why did you choose such a career? How do you grow your skills outside work?)
  • Background (How did you reach your career point? What was the most important position to get you where you are today?)
  • Motivation (Why do you wish to change jobs? Why would you like to work with us?)
  • Product inspiration (What is your favourite product and how would you improve it? What do you think of the…
