How can a Product Manager help the release process?

It is so frustrating when months of Product work drag on due to release issues. Consider those 10 Product Manager actions to help the team release the newest version of your product:

1) Understand the release process
Is it a single pipeline or several ones for different platforms? Is it OK to release them separately or lack of synch can cause serious issues? With this, you can better build expectations.

2) Formalize the process
Ensure you know who is responsible for what and when. You never know what others expect of you and vice versa, at least until it’s written and acknowledged by everyone. Documents like the definition of ready, done, and the release process are a must!

3) Never commit to specific release dates
Stakeholders might be upset, but they will be more upset if you miss promised dates. Better to use relative time, like “with version x.xx” or “after sprint Y”.

4) Allow the team the capacity to work on improving the release process
How are things supposed to improve if they all stay the same?

5) Invest in automation
Probably some of the tasks being done manually can be done automatically if you just stop to think and analyze the process
