Product Manager, Reclaim Your Time!
Do you also hate wasting time on meetings despite being a Product Manager? Here are 8 ways you can have time for “real” work:
1) Prioritize meetings
You should have your goals to achieve and commit to meeting which are in line with those goals. If some of the meetings are a distraction, treat them as such and either ignore or postpone them. Or at least:
2) Decide whether to show up or read the summary/notes
Sometimes, you are asked to a meeting in case you are the only one who can answer a question, make a decision or at least take the meeting as input. However, most of the time your only contribution to that meeting will be: “Thank you”. Perhaps it will be enough to review meeting notes and answer questions/make calls once the meeting is concluded. However to achieve that
3) Ensure there are meeting notes with an action plan (including deadlines)
This is something you need to drive as an example and create a culture of creating a meeting paper trail. If the meeting happens, it’s best to make sure it’s effective!
4) Choose the right tools for the job!
