The many aspects of remote product work
Spotify’s commitment to remote work should be a wake-up call for companies. Here’s why remote work is a win for both companies and employees:
1) Easier to keep your focus
You can set up your home office to eliminate distractions: no impromptu desk visits, and no background chatter. You decide what gets your attention and when. Thus you can stay focused for longer and complete your assignments without context switching.
2) Work Efficiently
Remote work often means faster task completion, better control over priorities, and the ability to dive deep into documents, emails, and research without unnecessary detours.
3) Breaks on Your Terms
Whether it’s a quick coffee, a midday workout, or home-cooked meals, you manage your energy by pausing when needed. I did go to my building’s gym today for my lunch break! Bonus: You can skip the processed snacks and actually eat healthy!
4) More time for other stuff
Whether it’s due to a lack of commune time or the ability to do dishes in a more passive meeting, you simply can get much more from life. That can translate to more happiness overall.
