Weekly blog #5: 150 people hired with my help!

🎆 SUCCESS! I have helped 150 people get a Product job this year! The goal I set for myself on the 1st of January is now achieved! But there were more breakthroughs last week!

So, It’s actually 152 :) I am now leaving statements this time in favour of the big graphic. So, though I am probably repeating myself, it is incredible to me that this goal was reached. As a Product Manager, when I set those, I mean for them to be a little unrealistic. Not impossible, or feasible, but at the same time not possible to achieve by doing the same old. same old. Especially not in an economy that is much less likely to hire anyone than in the last year.

So, what did change between 01.01, when getting at least 1 person successfully hired every 2 days didn’t look too feasible? Well, I did identify a few key issues people face when looking for a job and translated the answers into additional courses and YouTube videos, articles and launched a course dedicated to winning job interviews :) I have also improved my resume review process — having identified common mistakes, I managed to create small templates to address them. On one hand, they became slightly less personalized, on the other my prepared answers for specific issues are better thought-through and have good explanations of why I suggest specific changes.

When I hit 20k subscribers on LinkedIn I set myself a new stretch goal. However, while putting people’s jobs as a goal and a motivation looked like a good idea 10 months ago, I decided not to continue on once I hit it. For one thing, it’s pure vanity and It’s not like I got 150 new offers. It’s my students’/followers’ personal success, always, and I have a varied degree of input — from significant work on my end and months of being there to just putting the right article at the right time. I will carry on with the count and will help anyone that needs my help, but my smile and weekly post is enough now :)

I did mention other milestones: Last week, for the first time ever, I had a post that had gone viral with over 500,000 views and hundreds of retweets. It’s a story in itself, as… I have no idea how it happened. I do know a lot about good posts and the LinkedIn algorithm, but the post that went viral defied all that I know! Oh, well ;)

At the same time, YouTube hit 4000 subscribers and those are growing strong. However, what the YT is lacking for me is the views. I am nowhere near watch time that would qualify me to monetize the channel, making me rethink all I do there.

Other than that, I’m improving subtitles on my core course, scripting 2 new courses (One for LinkedIn Learning slated for Q1 2023!) and bracing for a long recording session this week :) Check out the summary of all last week’s activity in the comments section and as always, thank you for being here and supporting my efforts!
