🎉 Three more people landed their Product roles with my help last week! That includes a graduate hire at Visa! As of now, I’ve proudly helped 175 people since September last year.
Glad to have helped more people! I may be repeating myself, but the fact it’s, so far, always a few people each week for most, if not all, of the year is jaw-dropping for me. When I placed 150 people helped goal for myself in January, I thought I am pushing myself way beyond what I could expect. 9 months later, I’m 12 people short of the goal in a way different, less favourable, market. Each year, September and January are the hottest for recruitment. This year, you really can’t see it! Very few open positions, and very little traffic (from my perspective) from recruiting on LinkedIn… It’s not a time to change your employer, that’s for sure! Even if you do, I see new hires are the first ones to lose during any layoffs.
Ok, this became a sad post, sorry. But I’d rather you know the real situation. I’d hate for anyone to make a bad call based on my references and later regret it.
As for this week, it’s Hackathon week in Microsoft, so I’m leading a completely different team I assembled with 4 hacking, user-facing projects! Last year I was a silent idea giver for a change, which led one of the devs to land 2 rewards. Hopefully, this year I can repeat the success with my name on it :)
At the same time, I will try to edit a few more videos for the re-recorded module 2 of my original course and release it soon :) I also plan a highly requested YouTube video (yesterday there was a new upload btw) with guest stars :) On top of that, I’m starting to script 1 or 2 new courses…
