Why is Mr Best a better leader and business owner than Elon Musk?
You can achieve great things as a leader without acting like a Twitter tyrant! Here is Jimmy Donaldson a.k.a. Mr Beast, tired as hell on the day of the opening of his first physical Burger place and off to set a record of selling 10k burgers one day, 5x the previous record. What struck me about this day?
While watching a YouTube video detailing this occasion (link in the comments section), it was quite clear how monumental a task this was. The kitchen was clearly overstaffed ready for doing something no one has done before. Jimmy had a single goal that day:
Serve 10,000 burgers
That’s it. A single metric, a North Star if you will. People were lining up at the restaurant 2 days before the Grand Opening and the pressure was high. Unlike what is happening now at Twitter, Jimmy clearly put users and their experience first and foremost, not the financials.
What really struck me first, was a “Daily” meeting with the kitchen staff, where Jimmy says:
- This day can make or break the whole initiative
- They have a lot to prove
- The task is beyond imagination
- They will be overworked and will stay long hours
- They need to smile and keep optimistic…
